Meet Bill Rizzotti of Fowler House Cafe in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Rizzotti.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bill. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started the Fowler House as a family business, my dad Anthony my brother Richard and myself back in 1981.

The three of us took over a small little bar, mostly men with minimal food to start and slowly changed things into a nice little café if you will. We sponsored many softball, hockey and basketball teams, men and women and they all supported us for many years helping us to succeed.

Over the years we got the kitchen up and running with some homemade cooking from my mother and aunt, and after numerous tries I finally developed the pizza recipe I wanted to sell. The pizza’s started slow and then they took off and became our staple then and still today.

In 1987 we expanded the kitchen and added a small dining room, increasing our menu adding all new entree’s like pasta, fish, steaks etc. People loved the new food and changers we made and it wasn’t long before we were in need of more space. We bought the building in 1995 and we were the first Quincy 2000 major project in 1996 to remodel the store fronts along Hancock street. In 1999, we expanded the dining room by breaking thru the brick wall and adding a 56 seat non-smoking dining room and adding new handicapped restrooms. The line out the door when we reopened was a beautiful site after all the hard work that was put into it and really put us on the map. When my dad passed in 2003 my brother and I split the duties and have been steady over the years. My brother retired in 2015 and I had some ideas that I’ve been drawing up on paper for a while to renovate the bar side one last time. We closed for just seven weeks and completely remodeled the old bar into a beautiful brand new sports bar that looks awesome. New granite bar, 4k ultra high def TV’s, phone chargers under the bar, all new furniture, floor and ceiling and of course another new menu. I’m extremely happy with the NEW Fowler House and hope to be for many more years!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any business runs smooth all the time, especially the restaurant business. Probably staffing is always the number one problem.

Please tell us about Fowler House Cafe.
American Restaurant & Sports Bar with great food, atmosphere and friendly customers.

Now…I do everything lol!! But since we opened I did most of all the design, renovations, ideas.

That we made it together for 36 years through good times and bad.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Hanging out with my buddies, boating with my family.
