Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Grant.
Robin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from Johnson & Wales University, Providence, RI in 1999 and truly wanted to become a part of the spa industry so I enrolled immediately after into Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics, Woburn MA for the 1200 Hour Medical Esthetic Program. I started my journey in a spa located in Cape Cod MA and soon became interested in learning more about education and sales within the industry. I relocated to Newburyport, MA in 2002 and started with a Distribution Company for Spa Equipment and products as Director of Esthetics. For the next 9 years, I was lucky to work with some amazing educators for water therapies, waxing, facial care and laser equipment. I travelled nationally and internationally working directly with manufacturers and spa owners advancing their teams in education. It was a wonderful experience but the travel was extensive, the industry was changing and I truly wanted to start to build a local clientele. I decided to rent a small space in Danvers, MA as well as Newburyport to see which location would be the best place for me. I had always loved the instant gratification of the up and coming Eye Lash Extension services and really started to get more and more into education and services. Introducing a new service to immediately make customers feel beautiful let me be creative with each person.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Ahhh, I wish I could say it was a smooth road but as with everything there is always a few hurdles! My biggest hurdle was the location in Newburyport, I had signed a 1 year lease and 2 months later the building went on the market and sold soon after. I knew at this point if I wanted to take the leap of faith I would need to find commercial space, build a team and pray people would like my services! This was a huge decision as I was still working a 40 hour work week in sales and maintain a clientele with spa services.
But I decided to do it and I could not be happier that I did!

Blink Skincare & Lash Studio specializes in Facial Care, Lash Extensions, PCA Peels, Waxing, Spray Tanning, Massage and Makeup Services. We set ourselves apart by creating a complete team atmosphere. Customers are welcomed and encouraged to try all our team members. We wanted to create a place where the staff knows all the clients and are trained completely the same. We also use a more advanced application of Lash Extensions featuring the Russian Volume Technique. This style of lash is light, comfortable and super attractive on every single eye shape. Within the last two years as the industry progressed with lash extensions we found that some establishments may not be trained to the fullest. Blink introduced the service “Lash Fixes” we became known for helping customers that may not have had the best experience in the past fix their current set. We welcome the challenge and found that this became a huge point of difference for us. We guarantee our work and will make sure customers that have pre-existing sets from other locations that they are not thrilled with leave with a set they love! I am so proud of the team we have created and watching all the departments help each other to make sure the customer leaves happy and feels amazing about themselves.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Oh yes! We always have something new we are looking to add. Currently we are expanding our retail area and adding a few new staff members. We have a few “New” Service items for the menu we are hoping to launch by December…. for sure to keep everyone posted!
