Who Doesn’t Like A Country Store? I opened Black Moose Country Store in Windham, NH because I love country stores and my hometown did not offer a true country store.
Having an eight-year-old in school also helped me choose the hometown so I may be close to him. My son was able to take the school bus to the store after he finished his school day. I just love to hear customers commenting how it brings back memories for them when they visit us. We offer fun things from penny candy to country furniture, curtains & linens, rugs, signs, unique gifts, candles, locally made items, lake and lodge décor and so much more. Boredom not an option here. I am always on the look-out for items I feel our customers would love. There is a bit of something here for everyone. We are worth the trip. Out of town guests and tourist love to visit. With hard work and dedication, we have become a destination for customers.
Has it been a smooth road?
We opened late 2012. I think the economy was just turning around for the better.
We struggled at first, being in a very small populated town, located off the beaten path, not being known and a neighboring café closing. We hung on, determined, and used a very tight budget helped us to grow. The store is just busting at the seams with inventory and the customer base increases daily.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Black Moose Country Store – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We like to specialize in merchandise with your town or your lake name. We have signs, towels, mugs, magnets, etc. for local towns & lakes. We specialize in New Hampshire and USA products. It makes us feel very proud when customers say this is their Happy Place, Favorite store or that they could just live here. It brings tears to my eyes.
We carry unique items which sets us apart from others.
