Meet Karlee Kimball of Heartfelt Accommodation Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karlee Kimball.

Karlee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up with 5 siblings, we are all very close, but there were tough times. I know now that it was supposed to be that way so I could learn, appreciate and become the person I am today. Paula (co-owner), also grew up with 5 siblings and she would agree that although it was tough it made her who she is today, an amazing and caring woman.

I never thought that I would do what I am doing today, but knowing what I know now, I know it is what I am supposed to do. My background is very diverse, I have worked in restaurants, customer service, office management, administration, and human resource management. I earned my Associates degree in Healthcare Management, and then my Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration.

Paula, has been an LNA in all aspects of the healthcare field, for 46 years. She is very well versed in providing care for those in need. She has practiced many forms of spiritual growth, and continues to embrace life with a positive attitude and making the best of her time with our clients.

I started to become stressed at my work, it wasn’t fulfilling to me anymore. I knew I had more potential, which made me start thinking about the best way to use my education and skills. The thought of starting this business came to me one night while I was having a tough time sleeping. After some thought and confidence that I could do it, I contacted Paula to see if she was interested. From there I typed up a 26-page business plan, and brought it to Paula to see what her thoughts were, and to see that I was serious, determined, and my intentions were good.

Both Paula and I have the same outlook on how we want our business to run. Being affordable to those in need so they can get the services that are necessary, and building a genuine and respectable relationship with our clients so they feel comfortable is important to us.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being business owners for the first time, we have certainly had our bumps along the way, but we have had the opportunity to work with amazing clients. Working together as a team has definitely been smooth. We all work very hard, and we have consistent clients that keep us afloat, There will always be learning curves and challenges, but with our determination and compassion, we have been able to continue to have faith in our success. Most of our clients are elderly, which means we must keep an open mind that they may either need more advanced care that we aren’t able to provide, or they could pass away.

We have a lot of competition in our field, not only with large agencies that are well known, but also with individual caregivers who work for less money. These challenges are also part of the reason we chose to provide other services within the business.

Heartfelt Accommodation Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Heartfelt Accommodation Services LLC is a family oriented Home Care and Concierge Services business. We provide a diverse selection of services, but at this time we specialize in Home Care/Companion Care. We are affordable and do our best to accommodate our clients and their families. Trust and respect are important to us, and we work closely together as a team to ensure that everyone is happy, including ourselves. The demand is huge, but the competition is as well; which is why we provide other services to anyone who needs them.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is enjoying what you do for a living while using the skills and education you have developed over the years. Having the heart and mind set of choosing to help those in need rather than trying to get rich off them certainly gives me hope that good karma is coming our way. We are all on the same page, and we help each other get to the next step. Being able to work as a team and stay positive is part of our technique for keeping the business alive. We have had some of the most intelligent, gifted and respectable clients. With all of that combined, it is something I know I can consider success!
