Meet Anne Coan Belka of Winthrop Farm in Rowley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Coan Belka.

Anne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am 49 and I began riding before I could walk.

My parents had horses and ran a stable before I was born.

Having worked in the horse industry throughout my life, I knew the type of business I wanted to create.

I started Winthrop Farm in 1997 in a small vacant barn that I rehabbed and brought back to use.

I quickly out grew the 9 stalls that my dad and stepfather had built and decided to buy something with and indoor ring.

I found the perfect piece of land in December 2003.

I purchased it and began clearing the land.

The building began in January and finished in July 2004.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Clearing was very hard work and came with poison Ivy.

The building went fairly smooth but was challenging as I was still running Winthrop Farm at the original Manchester location.

Winthrop Farm – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a dressage facility that specializes in top notch care for our equine partners. The horses always come first.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Being a bit of a perfectionist and always treating every horse as if they were my own care wise.
