Meet Michael Smith of Boston Carnival Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Smith.

Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Came to America from Trinidad in late 1977. Did night school for about 12 months then I was accepted in NU Boston graduated in 1983. BSEET, been working as an engineer since 1983. Got involved with the Caribbean American community. Built a web site to further the goals of the organization to reach other around the world and provide a window for other to become more involved with the culture. The website is now over 20 years online.

Has it been a smooth road?
No real struggles, however like any new venture it takes a while for others to understand and get involved. In this case, it is the branding of Boston Carnival Village.

I would say getting the word out on the activities taking place in the Caribbean community during the annual Trinidad style carnival events….

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Boston is a very cultural diverse community and what Boston Carnival Village do online really fits in to that community quite nicely.
