Meet Marnie Millington and Arden Hill of Children’s Speech and Feeding Therapy in Needham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marnie Millington and Arden Hill.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Although we grew up in different parts of the country, we ended up at Boston Children’s Hospital & really admired each other’s work. We became good friends and after a few years of working together, we realized that we wanted to create a small, loving environment where we could expand the ways in which we helped children and their families.

Has it been a smooth road?
All roads have bumps. When we started, we knew how to help kids talk and eat, but were newbies when it came to creating a company and all of the administration that came with it. Renting and renovating spaces, billing, hiring and firing…gosh all these things were new to us! That being said, over the past fourteen years, one crucial aspect that has been smooth sailing has been our relationship with each other! We have always agreed that it is most important to us to put the kids in our clinic first! Every other decision falls logically from that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Children’s Speech and Feeding Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a woman-owned and operated local enterprise! There are eleven speech-language pathologists in our group and we have two support staff. We see children from infancy to adolescence with speech, language and/or feeding disorders. What are most proud of? The fact that we approach each child as an individual and work hard to tailor their treatment to their needs and personality. We have hired a group of like-minded therapists to work alongside of us. We see ourselves as an extended family who feel lucky to be able to help families in need. Our connections to teaching at local universities have helped to continue to ground our work in evidence-based practice.
