Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna LaVoie.
LaVoieHealthScience was started in 2001 based on the idea that health and science companies that are truly innovating have critical needs around communicating their message to key stakeholders. Massachusetts as a leader in health and technology, this was a natural place to begin the business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Shifting from working in the business versus working on the business is a big shift. Growing from one person to five and to ten, professionalizing the organization, focusing on people and people’s growth paths is rewarding and challenging at the same time.

We are known in the health and science fields for as specialized thinkers in strategic communications. We help emerging companies grow and establish companies stand out. We also ensure that our clients carefully communicate their complex science and technology stories with a sense of purpose and meaning.
What were you like growing up?
I was always asking questions, never taking no for an answer. I am naturally curious and a risk taker. Naturally, I like to be around people collaborating and making things happen — a true entrepreneur I guess.
