Meet Carol Lasky of Cahoots in Fenway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Lasky.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carol. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I named our company Cahoots, I wanted to signal the collaborative spirit of our communications firm. Having worked on the client side for a number of years, I learned how important it is to learn from each other and build on great ideas in tandem. Collaboration is in our DNA.

We’re honored to enjoy long-standing relationships with our wide array of clients who “invite us in.” That’s really the essence of our work: working together to find and express the promise (and surprise) at the heart of the brand.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our road has been paved with serendipity. I can trace every wonderful client engagement to a rare, often unplanned, moment of great fortune. Sometimes, it’s as simple as being in the right place at the right time—or having an advocate sing our praises to a colleague looking for the services we provide.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cahoots – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Cahoots is known for being small and mighty. I’m honestly amazed sometimes at our output, given our small size. On the other hand, being small enables us to live up to our collaborative creed. When we develop and design a brand, or build a print and electronic communications program, or launch a website or online platform, we guarantee the solid —and zesty—integration of messaging. It’s really exciting to see the transformational process take place.

One of our clients called last week to say that a competitor had recently told him that his company’s brand had set a high bar in the industry. That’s the best news for us and it’s also a reminder of how important it is to continually raise that bar to ensure that the brands we design maintain their leadership.

I’m personally proud that, given the wide range of clients and industries we serve, our work is meaningful and makes a significant difference in people’s lives. For one example, we’ve been involved with federal, state, and local environmental stewards in the historic restoration of the Muddy River.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m hoping to find the time to nurture a platform that we developed a few years ago. Youlogy is part of the push toward societal openness around death. We designed an award-winning book that helps people craft their personalized legacies in the context of a deeply enriching experience. The more I learn about how profoundly the book is connecting individuals and providing uplifting moments, the more committed I am to taking Youlogy to the next level. I want to be part of a movement that helps people think honestly and share openly their plans and intentions for their precious lives.
