Today we’d like to introduce you to Karuna O’Donnell and Christine Rose.
4 Corners Yoga + Wellness began as an inspiration in co-founders Christine Rose and Karuna O’Donnell’s shared bodywork space at The Meeting Point, A Center for Multidimensional Healing, in Jamaica Plain. Their individual businesses of massage and yoga were expanding beyond their shared room and they began to imagine a beautiful, vibrant, wellness center in Dorchester that could be both a thriving small business and widen access to those who could benefit from these resources yet can’t readily afford these services. They have nurtured the idea of a body positive, welcoming, accessible and affirming community of wellbeing and are honored to be bringing their work forward together as 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness.
Has it been a smooth road?
The largest challenge was waiting for our space. We had a 200 hour yoga teacher training and our building wasn’t complete so we held the training at sites all over Boston in 2016- 2017.
Both of us have thriving practices which we are maintaining in addition to the joint venture. Finding the balance of keeping all of our wonderful clients and communities supported is something we are committed to and figuring out how to do!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We offer yoga, massage and workshops focused on health and well-being. Our yoga classes focus on breath, strength, integrity, spirit and rejuvenation. Our dedicated, certified and insured yoga teachers will help you find the right class for you. Our licensed and insured practitioners will provide you with professional relaxation or therapeutic massage sessions to meet your needs. We have 8, $5 yoga classes a week and some of the most affordable pricing on yoga and massage available in Boston. Our monthly membership is $89 a month and includes a one hour monthly massage as well as unlimited access to our 28 skillfully led classes and massage treatments that are available 7 days a week.
The mission of 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness is to serve and support the Dorchester community and surrounding neighborhoods in taking charge of their health and wellbeing.
The vision of 4 Corners Wellness + Yoga is to provide a space of beauty, sanctuary and revitalization by providing high quality services to the community. We value each customer and are committed to conducting our business with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards. We envision a body positive, welcoming, accessible and culturally affirming space that customers seek out for personal care services and yoga.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We have found it to be a place where new ideas can be actualized with steadfastness and vision. There is support for innovators who seek to widen access to wellness to many more neighborhoods.
In Boston, there is wellness divide where some communities have an astounding amount more resources that are essential for wellbeing while others have little or none; healthy food, bodywork, acupuncture, opportunities to practice yoga and wellness practices in beautiful dedicated spaces built for peace and rejuvenation. The yoga and wellness community seriously lacks diversity.
