Meet Sean Sullivan of Crow’s Landing in Hingham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Sullivan.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My partner and I are residents of the Crow Point section of Hingham. We both have experience in the restaurant and hospitality business, including past and current ownership in other concepts. Several years ago, the perfect location became available at the entrance to our neighborhood and we couldn’t pass it up. We completely renovated the building and recruited first-rate culinary talent in order to build an establishment that this is known for serving first-rate food, is welcoming to all and has deep roots in the community.

Has it been a smooth road?
When I tell people I am a restaurant owner, the most common refrain is, “That’s a tough business.” My response is that all business is tough and we face the same challenges as all other industries – recruiting and retaining top talent, navigating and complying with regulations, providing first-rate customer service, the list goes on.

We have definitely faced obstacles along the way, but we’ve done a good job managing them so that we can consistently provide a great experience to our customers. From the outset, we built a foundation for success by being very deliberate with our operations and focusing on our staff. With a great team, we can weather any storm.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming establishment with deep roots in the community. Supporting local organizations is ingrained in our culture and is a great source of pride for us. But don’t mistake us for just another local neighborhood bar and restaurant. We use the freshest ingredients in all of our dishes, and are known for both high quality and value.

Our well-rounded menu features an inviting and delicious mix of traditional comfort food balanced with modern trends, prepared by our very talented Executive Chef, Erik Stenfors. He has a long list of accolades and his philosophy in the kitchen is, “Keep it simple and let the ingredients speak for themselves.” He follows that tenet with every dish he creates.

You can also feel good about what you eat at Crow’s Landing because nothing is deep fried – We don’t even own a Fryolator. Traditional French Fries, appetizers and sides are prepared in a specialized oven that gives everything an incredible taste, without the oil. So you can indulge in our chicken wings or French fries guilt free!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I can’t speak to the business climate in Boston, but Hingham is very restaurant friendly and residents throughout the South Shore have benefitted from the choice of many great establishments throughout our town.
