Today we’d like to introduce you to Karim Salem.
Karim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My interest in Orthodontics initiated when I was a teenager, as I was a patient of my father who was my Orthodontist. My Orthodontic treatment started with head-gear appliance and eventually braces. I do not remember complaining about it, but I was not sure it was going to fix my teeth, until I saw and compared the initial pictures taken at the beginning of my treatment, to the results at the end. I was fascinated by the results, and so grateful that my teeth looked nice, aligned, and no more overbite. Now, I take pride in making that change in people’s smiles and self-esteems.
Everett Orthodontics has been around for over 30 years, serving and improving smiles of kids and adults from variety of towns in great Boston, and Boston proper.
Has it been a smooth road?
I finished my first set of schooling and graduated from Damascus University faculty of Dentistry in Damascus, Syria. I then decided to continue my education as I got accepted into Oral Surgery Residency in Syria, which was a great experience for a year and half before I got accepted at Tufts University for Orthodontic residency, It was not an easy decision to drop off my 5 year Oral Surgery Residency, which I equally loved as a specialty, but I decided to move on and take the challenge and move to one of the most intellectual cities in the world to follow my father’s steps and learn how to improve smiles and design functional balanced occlusion.
Another challenge I faced when I finished my residency in Orthodontics at Tufts University, and earned a position at Boston University Faculty practice. I learned that in order for me to pursue my dream in private practice, as a foreign trained dentist, I would need to spend 2 extra more years to obtain an American Dental Degree ( aside from specialty certificate) to be eligible to be licensed in Massachusetts.
Boston grew a lot in me through the years of my education, and made my decision to prolong my education kind of easy. I finished my second Program, earning a DMD from Boston University, and I have been enjoying treating kids and adults in private practice since.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

Our dental team offers gentle, patient-centered dental care for the whole family. At our practice, we offer complimentary consultations, following the exam, we create individual care plans tailored to the person’s needs. This ensures the best treatment experience and strongest results.
Our primary goal is to deliver exceptional dental care to all our patients. We achieve this through thorough exams and custom treatment plans, patient education and motivation, and a focus on long-term oral health, not forgetting to do our best to make it affordable to our patients. We also accept the majority of insurances, to widen access to treatment for all our patients.
We feel the best testament to the care we offer is that we’re now tending to the children and grandchildren of our first patients. It is truly a joy to care for the smiles of everyone in the family.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes it is, Boston and greater Boston are growing constantly, and there is always a need for more Dentist and specialized professionals to take care of the growing number of people.
City can stress the importance of Awareness programs in schools so everyone can be on board to take care of their overall oral health at young age.
