Meet Chris Rappold of Personal Best Karate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Rappold.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story is a story about a 13 year old boy who was able to turn his hobby into a career and fulfill his goal of becoming a World Champion in Karate. This year I am celebrating our 25th year in business. We have served thousands of families over the years and have also reached out beyond the walls of our school by bringing anti bully education to 33 public and private schools, provided annually good citizen college scholarships to selected graduating seniors and also provided over 30,000 Thanksgiving meals to local families in need through our Ma non-profit Personal Best Charity.

Has it been a smooth road?
From the outside, it may look smooth or at least that is our intention. From the inside we have dealt with many of the same challenges businesses face today in a climate that is competitive for discretionary dollars. We have seen major changes in the way we market our services and have needed to evolve our programming to keep up with the ever changing demands of life.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We teach a blended martial arts program that focuses on Character Education and mindfulness, physical fitness and self defense skills for people of all ages. Most recently I was nominated as University for Family business of the year.

I would like to think our passion for what we do sets us apart. There are more and more martial arts schools and other service businesses popping up these days. I think people choose us because of how they feel about themselves when they are in our schools.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely am someone who has Boston Strong pride. I love our state and enjoy serving the people within our communities.
