Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Tomasello.
CARE Resolutions, Inc. is a family owned and operated company that was founded in 1997 by Vicky Hunt, the current CEO’s mother, resulting from the compassionate, moving experience she had when providing care to her own mother. Her search for supplemental care to assist her with her mother, revealed at that time, there was a shortage of consistent, competent, affordable care agencies available.
Having been a Social Worker for many years, Vicky was driven to address the problem by forming her own successful agency. She studied health care and relied on her faith to ensure that her agency would provide compassionate, competent care through a network of excellent, meticulously trained caregivers. Shortly after starting the business it was impressed on Vicky that she should learn as much as possible about dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease in particular, since the disease was beginning to receive the national recognition that it deserves.
Erica Tomasello, Vicky’s daughter, has a background in Education and Clinical Psychology. She has worked with her mother for years, developing Care Resolutions into a premiere agency. Erica, and in turn, the agency’s staff, continue to expand their knowledge with the ever growing development of understanding the aging process and geriatric disease.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For me, the struggles have been learning the backbone of running a business. As well as supervising every position and creating new positions when there is a need…I needed to gain knowledge about each puzzle piece that goes into running and maintaining a successful business as well as manage people’s lives and be able to effectively teach, mentor, monitor all employees and continually improve all positions, here at the office and out in the field.
Care Resolutions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our team centered, family approach allows the agency and aides to effectively age in place with our clients, we offer hourly care, overnight care, and live in care to clients. In addition, we also carefully manage every client and treat everyone as unique individuals. We are available around the clock and we do not third party out our afterhour’s emergency calls. We are one of the only agencies in Mass to also have a therapy dog that can visit clients in their homes and go to special events.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as every year making strides in personal achievement, business growth, customer satisfaction, and having an overall positive outlook on life.
