Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Plante.
Terry, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I discovered acupuncture as a patient. I walked the path searching for answers and help for my own symptoms. I was a desperate patient myself some time ago. After a seemingly healthy childhood, I experienced a severe downturn in Pharmacy college. I was diagnosed with allergies & asthma. Even with medication, I still continued to experience asthma attacks every 4 hours. Frustrated, I turned to a number of alternative healers, with very little relief. Years went by. My frustration increased because I knew I wasn’t feeling or functioning nearly as well as I should be. I finally found a doctor who referred me to an acupuncturist specializing in Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). The doctor said his patients were coming back testifying about their return to health based on their success with NAET treatments. Coming from a Western Medicine background, it was another major leap of faith. During my NAET treatments, Muscle Response Testing (MRT) was used to discover my imbalances — specifically in this case to uncover allergies and sensitivities. I soon began to understand the power of this work.
After about fifteen treatments I noticed I was beginning to feel better. I continued with the NAET treatments. I knew I had found something extraordinary that few people knew about. I set out to become a licensed acupuncturist so I could help others with the same technique that helped me. Subsequently, I studied and graduated from New England School of Acupuncture with my Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2006. I have added and continue to add trainings and certifications in other bio-energetic healing systems (NAET, NET, TBM, SIPS) in order to be able to address health concerns in a more complete way.
Has it been a smooth road?
As a registered pharmacist, I know the Western approach of prescribing medication is not customized for each patient. Rather, medication is prescribed based on what the patient’s insurance will cover.
As an acupuncture practitioner, I learned that patients are unique, and there is no cookbook on how to treat. Even the classes I took in the alternative medicine world taught me to treat the average patient, however, there is no such thing as an average patient. Many of my patients come to me as their last resort, exhausting both Western and Eastern treatments.
I learned that through my post-graduate trainings and certifications there are four stressors that are responsible for creating many symptoms. I work with my patients to address these four stressors for my treatments to be effective and well-rounded.
Once I committed to continually learn about these four stressors it has become a much smoother ride for my patients and practice.

I love our city of Boston for its progressive way of thinking. Many people are open and willing to commit to alternative ways of healing, including the services I provide, even if they don’t understand them.
Finding a parking space in Boston can be challenging.
