Meet Brian Damico of New Fed Mortgage in North Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Damico.

Brian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started the company back in 2000 in the City of Chelsea with (1) other employee. It was a third floor location and wasn’t the ideal spot to start a business. Within a few years we moved to Saugus and now to our corporate location in Danvers, MA. We now have 52 employees with 4 locations and are looking to continually grow.

Although the Mortgage market has served up many challenges throughout the years, we feel that we are small enough to move quickly and large enough to have all the products with great rates.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The mortgage industry was anything but smooth from 2000 to today, but as we have matured and with increased compliance and regulatory burdens, it forces us to work very hard to become a destination company for some of the best people in the industry.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the New Fed Mortgage story. Tell us more about the business.
I would say we are most proud about our CULTURE. We feel that we are family and although families don’t always get along we make a real effort to have great chemistry. We have built a company based on servant leadership where we continue to improve our Communication and Workflows. We also put a real emphasis on first time buyers and technology and always look at ways to improve our overall experience for our loan officers and customers.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
As a business owner in general, I’m sure all of us could look at some bad luck as well as some good luck that has helped propel our businesses. I’d say the harder we all work, the luckier we get. I’d also say that in the instances of bad luck, I would chalk that up to great learning opportunities where we “FAIL FORWARD”

I come from the school that when bad luck comes it’s a great learning opportunity and how can you get a positive from that experience?
