Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Silberberg and Allison Rimm.
Susan, Allison, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We have been friends for years. We are both entrepreneurial and had established successful businesses. After a while, it no longer worked for us to be working out of our homes. We found terrific space in Brookline Village that had extra room. As we were seeking to create a joyful, supportive space in which we, independent professionals, could work, we thought it would be great to welcome in other like-minded professionals.
We created a collaborative workspace with dedicated desks, lockable files, plenty of storage space, and place to put up your pictures, knick knacks and make the space your own. Today, we are friendly group of co-workers who enjoy sharing ideas, networking events and our beautifully appointed conference room. Work spaces are available on a monthly basis and conference room rentals are averrable for full or half-day events as well as for standing meetings on an as available basis.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth? We started by renovating a rough space with loads 0f personality and potential. Is a renovation ever smooth? Susan and I were able to test our ability to work together under challenging conditions from the get-go and learned that we have complementary and overlapping skills as well as a great sense of humor!
Now that we’ve been through that, we’ve hit our stride and it’s been pretty smooth sailing. In fact, it has been a joy to see our vision come to life, particularly in light of the challenges of our early days.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a collaborative workspace for seasoned professionals, some of whom are setting out on their own for the first time, others who are establishing exciting startup ventures, etc. We all have in common that we are fairly independent but wish to be around other productive and creative professionals.
What sets us apart? We are a small and stable environment. Unlike other coworking spaces, most of our members stay for months or years. Where we get excitement and mix it up a bit – we have regular networking events for the broader professional community giving our members an opportunity to highlight their businesses and interests. Some interesting collaborations have sprung up between our members. And, one of our cofounders is an executive coach who makes her services available as a benefit of membership.
What were you like growing up?
We were both friendly, creative, curious, funny and fabulous in our own unique ways. And still are! We strive to do great work, serve our clients well, and to do so in a pleasant, fun environment.
