Today we’d like to introduce you to Missy Sternlicht.
Missy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Simons Shoes has been in business since 1892. Originally located near the Boston Public Gardens, Simons moved to Brookline’s Coolidge Corner neighborhood following the First World War (At that time, the Coolidge Brothers still operated their General Store!)
For more than 100 years, Simons Shoes has never been more than a few hundred feet from our current location. When we first opened our doors, horse-and-buggy was the travel standard and shoes were little more than leather and wood, meant to protect feet from cobblestone streets. Today we’ve got hybrid vehicles and shoes that not only look great, but feature soles made from high-impact, shock absorbing materials with customizable interiors for an individual fit.
Simons Shoes delivers to customers the world’s best craftsmanship with unparalleled classic style and comfort. At Simons, we’re happy to provide you with the expertise, knowledge and customer service of more than 100 years of helping people find shoes that look good and feel great! From shoes, to socks, to handbags – Simons has something for every style and budget. More than your average Shoe Store. Simons Shoes has a history of helping people find top quality shoes that are stylish and feel great!
In summary….
We are proud of Simon’s heritage and its dedication to bringing our ‘neighborhood’, the greater Boston area and e-commerce, the latest trends in shoes and accessories. Offering the world’s top brands in Style & Comfort while providing exceptional value, service and knowledge – both in-store and online.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With the rapid growth of e-commerce and domination of the big box stores, local bricks and mortar have certainly had their challenges. Trying to remain ‘relevant’ in this changing retail world is certainly a task. You have to be on-trend, and in many cases – ahead of the trend. Local stores have neither the financial nor physical resources of the ‘Amazons’ and ‘Targets’ of the world yet we do have less ‘red tape’ – allowing us to be that much more flexible. We are able to pivot and change when, as and if we need too much more rapidly than companies with layers of management to go through.
Additionally, Simons Shoes has been able to adapt to the changing tides of retail. We created our own e-commerce site years back that echoes the mission and quality standards we hold up in our store. The site enables us to have further outreach than the local Boston market while still maintaining our product integrity and vast offerings. We also take chances – while we have a core group of proven brands that echo the quality and longevity of Simons, we also search for new and innovative brands that are new to the US market.
Lastly, maintaining our exceptional customer service and vast knowledge is unable to be matched by any big box store or e-commerce giant. Come to Simons or simply email us and we do what we can to provide our customers with the very best products, services and quality.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Simons Shoes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are proud of Simon’s heritage and its dedication to bringing our ‘neighborhood’, the greater Boston area and e-commerce, the latest trends in shoes and accessories for both men and women. Offering the world’s top brands in Style & Comfort while providing exceptional value, service and knowledge – both in-store and online.
Simons has an incredible reputation for quality. Our local customer base is incredibly loyal and for that, we are very very grateful.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Continuing to provide great customer service and bringing our customers the best of the best is our mission both in-store and online. Maintaining our consistency of product, service and community involvement is our goal.
