Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Bollinger.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Trellis as a previous company MuvDigital in 2012 to help small and medium size business grow leveraging digital technology and marketing strategies like WordPress, search engine optimization, and much more.
I leveraged the little personal wealth I had and partnered with two other software developers in 2013 to build Muvdigital into what Trellis is today. From 2013 to 2017 we have since grown from a small 3 person team to a growing 12 person core team with a large team of contractors that we manage.
We are now continuing to service many small and medium size businesses on technologies like WordPress, Magento, Shopify, Hubspot and more. However, we have also grown to be able to handle leading companies’ technology needs like Mass General Hospital / Partners Healthcare, Roche Technologies, Wine Enthusiast, and Vista Higher Learning.
We are now one of the leading eCommerce solution providers headquartered in the greater Boston area.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth ride, and I would be surprised if any business could say otherwise during their early growth years.
The biggest challenge was finding and building the right team. In late 2015 one of the partners left the company and we had to buy him out and find a replacement. Additionally, shortly after our best software developer had to leave his full time role with us for personal reasons but still works with us part time today.
Fortunately, we were able to rebuild the technical team, and by the second half of 2016 had found an even better technical leader for the company, John Cymerman.
We were also able to build a much stronger team of software developers and project managers who have made 2017 a much stronger year for Trellis. However to achieve that required great personal sacrifice from the original two partners that stayed with the company, myself and Patrick Bean.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have huge plans for the future.
We are looking to rapidly expand our services team and capabilities to work with a much larger customer base. We still have a long ways to go in the markets we are in and can handle a much larger volume of work and clients in the Magento, WordPress, Shopify, and Hubspot markets.
We also have plans to build out a very innovative client portal that will make our operations even more competitive than before.
Lastly, we have already begun building a suite of products that will allow us to build sites and improves websites even faster than ever before.
