Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Peters.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always considered doing wedding planning but I feel like a lot of girls grow up thinking of wedding planning as an option (Seriously, Jennifer Lopez made everyone want to be a wedding planner!). But I never put much thought into it until after my own wedding in 2015.
I got engaged on 5/31/2014, and within three weeks, I had my venue, caterer, and DJ booked. Everything else including my photographer and florist came shortly after! I spent a whole week researching venues and visited them all within a few days. Even though I knew we wanted to get married the following fall, I could not help but get excited with all of the planning.
I can honestly say that my wedding planning was a stress-free process. While planning the wedding, I also solely planned a Jack & Jill Bachelor/Bachelorette to Las Vegas with 30 people and everything went smoothly. I helped everyone coordinate flights, hotels and created an itinerary for the four nights. During the end of the wedding planning, my now-husband and I also bought our first home. I was able to handle the home buying process and the wedding planning process hand in hand. My wedding was 10/11/2015, and we had 158 guests attend. My friends and family were waiting for me to feel overwhelmed, but I honestly enjoyed every aspect of my wedding preparations. I truly find planning enjoyable and I am passionate about making sure every little detail is perfect.
We are now in the middle of our fourth wedding season and things have been going great.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been amazing, yes? Smooth .. not all of the time. With weddings, things always pop up behind the scenes so the goal is to make sure no one knows the chaos that may be happening before the ceremony begins! I also do not do wedding planning full time so it is a lot of balancing between my life as a wedding planner and my life as a social worker. But honestly, I wouldnt have it any other way.
Please tell us about Perfectly Peters Planning.
Perfectly Peters Planning started in January 2016 and we specialize in Day of Coordination. We have been lucky enough to have worked with amazing couples who truly become friends after their wedding day. I think by doing wedding planning only part-time, it helps us get closer to the couples we work with which sets us apart from other companies. I spent time shadowing planners who do 50-70 weddings a year and they do not get to personally know their brides and grooms. I never want that to become our future. I love being able to get to know the couples on a personal level and truly feel like I know what they want. I get to know them so well that I want their wedding to be more than perfect because I treat them as If they are family. I have had couples refer me to their friends, family and who have invited me to their own homes/events after their big day. One of my brides from last year has even become my hairdresser! We love to stay in touch with everyone we have worked with.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I dont think I would have done anything differently .. This company is exactly what I was hoping it would be and I hope it continues to grow.
