Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rorro.
Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had been making and experimenting with my own serums and toners for a while. When I moved back to the Lower Cape (where I was born and raised), I noticed that there weren’t many local skincare companies in the area and thats where the wheels started turning. Since I like to use as many local ingredients as possible, I set out to try and incorporate as many as I could. Combining local coffee roasters, sea salt farmers, and local botanicals into my products to create a skincare line unique to the area. Something about that felt good. Of course, as to be expected, there were many learning curves and bumps in the road along the way. finding out (the hard way) the real shelf life of some organic ingredients and trying to create a consistent product was tricky at first but became something that I learned to work with. I enjoy the production process, the blending, labeling, and research that goes into making a product great. As the company evolved, my emphasis on “ocean-inspired” really began to shape AAw into what it is today. Now, being in six stores on the cape and islands, I feel more confident in speaking about the benefits of each ingredient that is carefully selected for each product.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main struggle for me was trying to impress upon people the importance of holistic or natural skincare products, as opposed to over the counter products. What we put on our skin is just as important as what we put in our bodies. Whole ingredients that you can pronounce is more important the cheapest and easiest option.
Atlantic Alchemy Wellness – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
AAW is a modern skincare company that prides itself on simplicity. No more than 12 ingredients are ever used per product and they are all ones that will look familiar to you. I use organic whenever possible and source many of the ingredients you see in these products locally. I believe in obtaining glowing skin through nourishing from within, and that is exactly what AWW accomplishes. I am most proud that I have been able to bring local companies together to make beautiful products that contain local ingredients. What sets AAW apart is the emotion you feel when using each product. Knowing that each bottle is hand blended and made to heal and nourish your skin with an inviting and warm feeling of the Atlantic Ocean.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments have been when I get repeat clients who have said that their skin has transformed since using the products.
