Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Raymond.
Laura, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my professional journey in Framingham in 1987, attending Mansfield Beauty Academy. My love for hair began many years prior. As long as I could remember, I was styling my doll’s hair to keep up with the hottest trends. I would watch my uncle, an established stylist in Framingham work his magic. The atmosphere of his salon was so fun, and he made people so happy. That really motivated me to pursue my passion for owning my own salon.
For years, I built my clientele by learning the ins and out of the industry. I moved to Cape Cod in the mid-90s. There, I not only worked in salons but also dove into the cosmetic industry. In time, I wanted to be able to reach out to up and coming stylists. I decided I would become a cosmetology instructor. This escalated my passion further seeing the excitement in my students’, as they reached their goals.
Has it been a smooth road?
At one point, not too long ago, I worked three jobs, all while being a mother to three boys. I wanted them to have the best life possible, all while realizing my ultimate goal. I needed to be able to be my own boss. There was a time where I worked in two separate salons on Cape and taught cosmetology in Taunton. The hours were long, but I was determined. This was a career I knew was worth it.
In the Spring of 2014, I made the decision to open my own shop. I continued working my normal hours while renovating my space. September 15 is our fourth anniversary in business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Salon Enchanted – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I wanted a salon where the clients leave with amazing hair but also feeling relaxed and comfortable. We have heard our patrons tell us how they leave Salon Enchanted feeling better inside and out at the end of their service.
Color, foils, and keratin treatments are definitely my focus. My personal favorite, however, is definitely color. There is such a feeling of accomplishment, seeing how happy I could make someone all while expressing my artistic abilities.
I have a lot of pride in the fact that in this industry of high competition, clients choose to come here, and keep coming back.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Boston is a melting pot of various cultures. Boston will also be special to me because I got the most extensive corrective color training. There is nothing about Boston that I don’t love.
