Check out Gabriel Toribio’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Toribio.

Gabriel, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
So, at age of 13, I fell in love with sneakers. Yeah, I was that kid that had 40+ pairs of sneakers. My parents are from the islands so every time I asked them to buy me a pair they’d look at me and laugh so I took matters into my own hands thankful for my brother he used to sell sneakers as a side hustle, so I took upon the same thing all the way up to now to this day, I still do it as little side hustle .

So, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. It is always super dope growing up with my brothers and my parents being super creative, so I was always drawing learning how to take pictures, photography was super cool to me so I took upon that hobby early.

I used my friends to practice my skills, it was always fun. Learning from others and networking with people has always been my go-to thing. But due to my age, I could never really attend networking events.

So, my friends and I took matters into our own hands and created D.U.M™️ (Diverse, United, Millennials). It’s a platform we are building in our home town Malden, MA to provide kids that extra step to get where they want to be in life. Whether it’s business, fashion, art, music, etc. we want to be able to provide that extra push to get where you want to be in life. We throw events once a month now to bring the youth together cause I was taught it was about who you know, not what you know.

Leading up to 18, I released one of my favorite projects “Toro”©️ in Boston’s biggest fashion/art/music exhibit the Fall Classic. Greatly took the opportunity, it’s been a blessing ever since.

My passive income fuels all my projects.

Now, at the age of 19, I have three business. Still going to school to further my education. My friends are my family, so I am beyond grateful for their support & the push they give me every single day to create a better version of myself.

We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
So, I’m building D.U.M™️ Productions at the moment with some of my closest friends. I want to help kids find their true passion for what they want to do in life. I saw that most kids that go to school, get a degree don’t end up in the job field they went to school for. I want to be the inspiration for kids, I want them to be an inspiration to the world. That whatever you are passionate about, do it and be the best at it. Reach your highest potential. Find out what you love and reach for the galaxies far past ours.

Creative professionals face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I personally believe it’s fear. Fear of failure, fear of loss, fear of not being successful. It’s truly what stops most people nowadays. You just have to have that I don’t care about anyone or anything mentality. Do what you love and plow through the “competition.” If you really want it, you’ll go out and get it.

Do you have any events coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work?
