Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda J. Howard.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our family moved to the Boston area for our oldest son to be treated at The Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute when he was just 15 months old. We are a Christ-loving, military family who found ourselves on a path we would wish for no one, however, it has turned into the biggest, best, the most beautiful blessing of our lives. Once my son was finished with his chemotherapy treatments and well onto the road to recovery, we decided it was time for me to get back to work! I wanted a job that would give me the flexibility to still be present as a mom but also allow me to make contributions not only to our family but also to our church and community. I wanted to be a part of something “bigger.” I wanted to work with a company that I believed in and was proud to be a part of. Luckily, I was introduced to Chris Hill of KW Realty Boston Northwest and I knew without a doubt, that I had found a place to not only grow professionally but also personally!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anyone who has other started a new job in a new region of the country knows it’s rarely a “smooth road.” Learning a new industry comes with its unique set of challenges, however, KW Realty Boston Northwest, invested in me, teaching me… guiding me… and encouraging me along the way. I must admit that mindset was one of my biggest struggles. Coming out of the haze of trauma, I often would focus on being a “realist.” It has taken months, which led to years, to re-train my mindset. Cynicism is a prison guard. Though the world is in no way unicorns and rainbows, it is a beautiful world – full of beautiful people and beautiful opportunities.
Please tell us about KW Realty Boston Northwest – Anchor Collective Real Estate.
KW Realty Boston Northwest is a real estate company located in Concord, MA, that places such emphasis on company culture – they want their agents to have a business worth owning, and lives worth living. Their approach guides everything they do, every day of the week.
I was a Buyer’s Agent for about a year before I decided the best way to serve my family was to have more control of my own schedule. I work with Buyers and Sellers which, 80+% of my business comes directly from military families, veterans, and contacts. Though many companies claim to be “military friendly,” I am able to provide my personal experience as a military spouse, as well as, my professional experience.
I think what sets me apart from most agents is I am down-to-earth. I don’t care if your home is worth $100,000 or a $1,000,000 – I will treat you with the same respect and provide you with the same level of service. When I meet with my clients, I tell them my goal is to be in their family photo… that I want to build a relationship in which we want to go on vacation with one another. Not only do I want to build trust, but I also want to build a friendship for life.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had it to do over, I would have started my real estate career sooner. This job is so rewarding in so many ways. I am able to help people obtain their dream of homeownership. I am able to help them navigate through difficult times in their life due to death or divorce. Real estate transactions can be very emotional, stressful, and overwhelming, so the fact that I can be a conduit to ease the process and make it enjoyable is a privilege.
