Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Grimaldi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Adriana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey in the hair industry started when I was 17. I began cosmetology school in September of 07 straight out of high school at Hairs How Cosmo. School in Wakefield, MA. The idea of creating something beautiful with someone’s hair has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. It all started with cutting ALL of my barbies & doll heads hair. Fast forward 11 years, amazing mentors, classes, education, shows in Boston & NYC, I still stand behind my chair with the same passion and motivation I had from the very beginning, if not more. I’ve been blessed enough to work in some of the most awarded salons and alongside some of the top hairstylists in the city of Boston. That alone has kept me loving what I do. It makes me feel amazing that I’m doing my part in making my clients feel as beautiful as they deserve.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m not going to lie. Most people will say their roads have had a lot of bumps to get them where they are now, I didn’t. I truly feel that this was always what I was meant to do and I followed that instinct. I had the support of my family and friends who were psyched about the perks of having a friend/daughter/granddaughter/niece who was going to be a hairstylist on the famous “Newbury street.” I never let anyone change my idea of what would give me happiness. With that said, the BIGGEST struggle was when I had my children who are now seven & six. I never had to balance much besides my own personal schedule and work schedule. So now, I split my time between working on Newbury Street and our location in Lynnfield, MA. Everyone wins, I can still spend as much time with my husband and children as I need to. My advice for ANY woman is that you should always follow your heart with whatever you do and give it 200%. You’ll be surprised at how much you’re able to handle!
What should we know about James Joseph Salon? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My specialty is definitely color/balayage/ cutting & bridal styles. I love it all! I see the entire beauty industry especially hairstylists as one giant TEAM. All of us are connected more than ever due to social media. I have followers from across the world and vise versa. The support and positivity we all give each other is that extra boost of confidence we may need to get through a long day at the salon. I’m just really proud to be a hairstylist at this point in time.
