Meet Charles Doughty of Cochato Nursery in South Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Doughty.

Chuck Doughty and Sue DuBrava purchased a farm house on 5 acres of land in 1990. They started growing unique and hard to find perennials, shrubs and trees. And started propagating many hosta plants. To accompany the hostas, they added ferns, wildflowers, and hard to find natives.

For gardeners that are not restricted to shade, there are alpines, dwarf conifers, succulents, and sempervivum. By creating a display garden, the many plants are showcased to give the gardener ideas and help them make their plant selections. Visitors to Cochato remark virtually every day that they are amazed and cannot believe this great garden exists. They remark further that they had not known about it, and are delighted to have stumbled onto it at last!

Has it been a smooth road?
