Meet Ant Reckart of Pinto Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ant Reckart.

Please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Pinto Graham is a New England Stoner Rock band that plays throughout the region. Our debut album, UNO, is available in CD form or from all of your favorite online streaming and download sites. Even if you don’t purchase the album it’s nice to know folks are listening and enjoying the music so stream all you want and please add the album to your favorite playlists.

The band is a Trio comprised of Andre Roman on guitar, Brian Harris on drums, and Ant Reckart on bass. Ant does the majority of singing but Andre sings lead on a few tunes as well and backups on most others. Our sound is, ultimately, blues-inspired heavy rock with psychedelic flourishes here and there. I, Ant, am from Central Florida so my Southern Rock roots are fairly evident and obvious in the tunes.

We are in the middle of recording and mixing our sophomore album, DOS, since October at Studio Wormwood in CT with producer/engineer David Kaminsky. It will be a five-song EP featuring songs that have been heard live for a while now. It will include a re-recorded version of Sleeping Giant which was recorded and released by Bonehead Studios last year on the CT compilation, “It Came From Connecticut, Volume 3,” and we are shooting for an early Spring 2019 release date.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Good question. With all bands, finding the right folks is always a struggle and we were no exception. I met Brian through a guitarist I was playing with but that guitarist didn’t stick around. We had two more guitarists come and go after him but, the last one recommended Andre as a replacement and he was our missing link. Andre is the perfect guitarist for Pinto. He and I play and write very similarly so, it was an easy and natural fit.

We have been the same unit for two or three years now and I, for one, am the happiest I’ve ever been in a band. It makes a huge difference being in a band with friends who become family than it is just to just play with talented folks. Both have their merits but, for me, a solid family unit is what makes the chemistry so rewarding and enjoyable. I love my band brothers musically and otherwise.

Please tell us more about Pinto Graham.
We strive to make your toes tap, your booties shake, and your heads to bang. Prizes are awarded to those talented few who can do all three at once. Joking aside, we just have a good time making music. We all have day jobs so this is our creative outlet. Pinto Graham is our love letter to everyone out there who our tunes resonate with. We try to have as much fun in the studio and on stage as possible. We want everyone to have a good time, forget about their work week and whatever else, and cut loose a bit. Rock and Roll!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Well, I’m the youngest of five and my childhood home was a very musical place. All of us kids played instruments in the band but I was the only one to continue on with music into adulthood. My father played flat-pick guitar and bass for a Blue Grass band while I was growing up. I loved seeing him play live. Now, I love playing live. I’ve been playing live in bands since I was 16 years old and began my studio experience at 17. I identify with being a musician. Nothing else is even close to being as fulfilling as music. It’s always felt like my purpose in life.
