Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gagliardi.
Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I actually did not think I would ever be a hair stylist, although I grew up with both my Mother and Aunt in the industry. When I was about to graduate, I remember sitting in my favorite high school teachers classroom (Mrs. Burke) the last week of my senior year and talking about what college I wanted to attend to be a special education teacher.
I looked at her and told her I changed my mind she looked at me like I was crazy because all four years she set me up in child development classes and programs where I would work with the elementary school. She told me to go with my dreams which I did and she is now a loyal client of mine!
My Mother and Father always supported me and motivated me to be the best version of myself and I just knew this industry was calling my name. They pushed me towards my dream and now I am here “living the dream” without my parents and my little brother Robbie I wouldn’t be the person I am today! So thankful for them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life comes with ups and downs, it all depends on how you tackle them. My family has always shown me strength so that’s all I knew. Nothing will ever come easy, you need to work for what you want and need to be.
I have been through a lot in my short 22 years of living but nothing will stop me from getting myself to the top! Surrounding yourself with good people and staying humble is the most important part of life!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Carl Michael Salon – what should we know?
Carl Michael Salon has become my home – where my co-workers are my sisters were my owner feels like family! I know it sounds crazy working in a business with all women but day in and day out we support and motivate each other in and out of the salon! You can’t find that just anywhere.
We are a summit salon which means we are apart of the largest salon and spa consulting company! This puts in place systems and goals to achieve so we can grow in our industry! My salon starts off with the associate program where you work closely with the master stylist being a second pair of hands and learning each day! I started off with Erica Martel 3 years ago and learned so much by her side! I would not be the stylist I am today if I didn’t get to grow with her! Erica taught me daily at the salon for six months and lead me to success on the floor!
Today, I am a level two designer at the salon! My clientele is amazing they allow me to pursue my dreams while trusting me in my chair! It is very important to me to make each guest feel beautiful. My favorite technique to do behind the chair is balayage coloring! I love the results! Blondes are my specialty as I love doing all the colors, but I have really studied and mastered the techniques!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mom and dad deserve all the credit in the world! They have set such amazing examples of what I need to be in life. They provide me with love and support and inspire me to be who I need to be.
My mom has always said nothing will ever be easy you have to want and work for it “do your thing girl” since such a young age and on my worst days, that’s all I can ever think of! They always told me I have a gift and I just never could wrap my head around what it could be that they are talking about- but here I am my gift is to make people feel beautiful to inspire people behind my chair to help others!
My little brother has always looked up to me, I always had to set an example for him. We are five years apart now that he is older he’s truly my best friend. Without him I wouldn’t have his shoulder to lean on he listens to me daily about my good and bad days and at the end of the day is my biggest fan! Love you, Rob.
I grew up as a competitive cheerleader, this means I have always had a crowd in front of me. I come from a small gym at North Shore Cheer Xplosion where I now coach the children. My owner Debbie and her daughter Tiffany have become my family over the years. They have always seen the best potential in me in all aspects of life and I have to thank them for always being My other shoulder to lean on!
