Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Burbury Hanchett.
Samuel Burbury, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up on Long Island. Did my schooling in the states and Italy. Lived in Beverly, MA for most of my adult life. The art I pursue is mostly through painting and drawing.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I hope for people to view the art and have their own experience with it. I do art to deal with the existential conundrum. It’s all I can do really. Through my life experience, it has come to be the thing that most suits me.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Artistic success is simply defined by satisfaction from your process, the act, and what goes into it. Hopefully, that process yields work you can be proud of.
Someone once said, “Find what you love to do, and do it for the rest of your life.” And if you honestly love to create works of art for no practical reason, for which no one in the world is asking you for, that no one is paying you for, and this brings you a level of joyous satisfaction? That is a wonderful thing, and if you keep showing up every day to do it, you have succeeded.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
As of now, I do not have any live shows. Most of my art is for sale. Support is always greatly appreciated through purchase, commissions, and exposure.
