Meet Janaye Dion of Plastix salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janaye Dion.

Janaye, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hair has always been a strong passion of mine! I always knew that I would attend hair school instead of college. In 2013 I started Empire Beauty School and became a licensed cosmetologist. Right after school, I bounced around a few salons to find the right fit for me which ended up at Icon salon. I started as an assistant and went in on my days off to do free hair services to show my boss that I was ready to be a stylist.

A few months after that, I was given a “stylist” business card and then began my journey. After creating my hair Instagram account, posting my work and word of mouth really took off! I would work 12 hour days to accommodate all of my clients! Fast forward two years and I am living my dream. I opened Plastix Salon June 12th, 2018. It hasn’t hit me yet and I’m not sure when it will!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has definitely been the most challenging time of my life. The months before finally opening Plastix we’re so stressful. I would say it’s mostly because I was working full time on top of trying to get my salon up and running. I wouldn’t be able to do it without the huge amount of help from my family, boyfriend, and friends!

I’m so thankful to have supportive people around me.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Plastix salon – what should we know?
