Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have always stayed focused on my sports career path. There have been some disappointments in interviewing for positions I was keyed on. I know there is no direct path to preparing for a career in sports. You need to stay focused on your passion for working in sports.
My partner, Tony Aubrey – a Malden guy, brings a wealth of event experience to the team. We have both had challenges but decided to bring our skills and talents together to overcome the obstacles we have both faced in the past.
Please tell us about Sports Career Mentors International, LLC (SCMI LLC).
Our passion at SCMI LLC is mentoring college graduates and other professionals transition into the business side of the sports industry, We do this in a couple of ways, through Podcast, Live Conferences, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.
We take pride in seeing those we mentor, network with, and connect to make that successful transition into the sports industry. There is no greater feeling than watching a young college grad land their first job in an area they have a passion for.
We also continue to manage several sports events to help keep us in-tune to and skills honed to the event management side of the business and to continue to build our network of professional connections.
The primary piece that sets us apart is the first-hand experience of starting at the bottom, and the relationships we have built along the way. Taking that, and combining it with a true customer-focused approach – as we grow, our goal is always to have a one-on-one option for our clients,
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
