Meet Marvin Smith of Senpai Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marvin. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started photography as a way to help my little brother market his clothing brand. I borrowed my grandfather’s camera, and we took pictures on our front porch. I just had so much fun doing it that I went out and bought a camera the next day and took pictures every day after that.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is ever smooth if you want to improve on any of your skills be prepared to hit some walls, especially for my creatives. It was hard to learn different camera angles and to try to come up with new ideas for models and pictures. Another challenge I had was working through my anxiety to branch out and get my name out there.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Senpai Photography story. Tell us more about the work.
I’m a photographer and only recently, this year, have I been taking jobs and using it as a business. The only thing that sets me apart from other photographers is that I will make sure you enjoy every second in front of the camera.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
A huge role. Sometimes things happened by accident, and I got featured in Hypebeast because of it. It was so cool, and it was a job I wasn’t even planning on taking.
