Meet Sherry Coulis of Oh So Pretties Handcrafted Gifts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Coulis.

Sherry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out making jewelry- fused glass at home when I became unemployed in 2010, to supplement my income… All my life I have always made jewelry – and been very creative. It started if I saw something I loved I would try to recreate it. The first real artisan hobby was after taking a class in stained glass which led to fusing glass in 2003.

Always dreamed of having a store. An opportunity presented itself after my unemployment ended in 2012 and I had to get back to work. I had no real business experience but on a whim said – why not? I Opened my store in 2012 with 12 other local artists and focused entirely on handmade locally. After six years, we have expanded and now have over 50 artists from all over the East coast.

We offer weekly workshops – I teach Dreamcatchers – glass fusing & silverware jewelry stamping, etc. Many other artists come and instruct workshops as well. We pride ourselves in providing our community with quality artisan made gifts, made in the local area. Along with inspiring customers to want to join in the fun of joining in and getting creative!

Has it been a smooth road?
In the retail world, I don’t think it’s ever always smooth. We have had a couple of rough years & that inspired me to create a studio and offer weekly workshops to extend the hours as well as expand our customer base.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Oh So Pretties Handcrafted Gifts – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in all an entire store of handmade gifts made locally in mass for the most part- and or in the USA.

I think that’s what sets us apart from others & makes me proud! We provide unique one of kind gifts that you don’t see in other stores, knowing we are helping our fellow community members make living wages doing what they love!
