Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Guilbeault.
Elizabeth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After graduating Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, with a BA in Spanish, I (naturally) began my career in Admissions for Long Island University. While working there, I completed an MBA in Finance. Along the way, I transitioned to a position as an insurance company in their Human Resources department. I soon took on their Training and Development needs and when they sent me to a Train the Trainer workshop in Chicago, IL, I ended up falling in love with the city and had to move there. In Chicago, I took the opportunity to go for another degree, this time a MA in Human Services. I had discovered when working in Admissions and Human Resources that not only did I really love working with and coaching individuals along their career paths, I had a knack for it. Employees would seek me out to help them with their goals. Furthering my education in a counseling based degree made sense.
It was in Chicago that I ventured into a yoga studio to participate in a book club, of all things. The owner of the studio that started the book club and I began working together – me coaching her and she teaching me yoga. Shortly after, I began learning more about yoga (I had done some yoga before, however, it was not part of my everyday life), she suggested I take a meditation class. I ventured into a meditation center in Chicago, Invision, where I fell in love with meditation, energy work, and healing. It was there that I realized the knack I had for coaching and helping others in their careers was my inner healer emerging as I am a Healer at heart. Human Resources, Training, Organizational Development, Coaching, and now Meditation, Yoga, Reading, Healing, and Energy Work were all ways the healer in me showed up.
After finishing my MA in Chicago and meeting and marrying my hubby, we decided to move east as I knew I wanted to settle closer to a family. Being a native of the Chicagoland area, he thought Boston would be a good fit. I went for it. We moved and soon after I started offering readings and healings at Circles of Wisdom in Andover, MA (recently relocated to Methuen, MA). One day, a client who had come for a reading came back in for another reading. After the reading, she asked me if I could teach her how to see and read energy. After thinking about it and considering it, I decided I could do that, and just like that, a business was born.
The funny part of it all? When I had been in school learning to read energy, I had a reading where someone told me I would be teaching, running classes and workshops. I had laughed because my original intent to learn how to see and read energy was to see my ‘stuff’ for me. I would be happy to help others too, however, my goal was to see what my blocks were in order to live my life and create what I wanted. To me, to be able to see your own answers, well, what could be better? It doesn’t mean you always know everything; rather it means being able to look at a situation with neutrality and see it for yourself, see it for what it is, and move forward accordingly. What a gift!
As I started teaching, one thing rolled into the next, I kept (and continue) following the energy. Today, the business I have, Meditate 2 Heal, has changed and progressed, starting with office space in Andover, MA under a different name, then morphing to more of an online and over the phone business where I record a lot of the programs so clients can listen at their own pace. I do many of my readings and healings over the phone in addition to offering live teleclasses regularly. I have blessed that many clients refer others to me for readings, healings, meditation, and energy classes. I continue to add content, classes, programs, and recordings and even free meditations on my website and have a closed FB group where I and other energy workers do fun things like host Live Card Readings. I love to work with those that have had a long-standing meditation practice to those just beginning.
In the last year, I have connected with local school systems in an effort to bring meditation and mindfulness to the classroom. I also love working with organizations as part of their wellness programs to offer meditation and even healings to employees.
In addition to reading energy, I also work as a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Andover, MA. People sometimes are surprised by this and yet to me, it all relates as it’s all energy. My business has branched out to include house healings and actual decluttering and organizing help (capitalizing on my studies in feng shui and experience as a Realtor).
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth is relative when it comes to starting or owning your own business. I guess it would be fair to say I have a slight advantage when it comes to obstacles as I often get a hint or a glimpse ahead of what is coming in meditation as I definitely use my reading skills to look at my business and what might pop up. I loved having actual office space when I did and the transition to more of a virtual business now was not always smooth. I had to look realistically at time and money – I was knee deep in growing a family and time to be at the office was becoming more of a challenge – whereas working from home creating ease and space. Of course, the Universe delivered the message in the form of clients asking for phone readings, asking for classes to be recorded and emailed to them, and for classes to be done over the phone. The Universe really does well at delivering messages!
Patience and trust are two key components. I love teaching any chance I get and have definitely felt frustrated at times when I felt called to teach or do something and yet it wasn’t manifesting in the physical world at the same pace as I wanted. And yet, I could always see why. I notice whenever I find myself “trying,” it usually isn’t the “right” thing. Trying implies effort. When I effort, things feel hard. When I follow my intuition, when I trust my gut, when I go with what I feel called to do and create, often what follows is the “good stuff” that no one could have scripted. When I trust, I fall into that coveted space where everything flows. I would like to say that after almost 15 years of doing this work, I have mastered that art of complete patience and trust 100% of the time, yet that would be a lie. I still fall back into doubt, uncertainty, and even effort at times. That’s where having a great support team helps. Struggles are made so much easier when you have family and friends cheering you on.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Meditate 2 Heal story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an Energy Reader and Healer. I see and read energy. Clairvoyant simply means the ability to see clearly. I work as a Clairvoyant and even use Mediumship to see and read energy. I avoid the word psychic as I don’t consider myself a psychic. To me, psychic is about predicting the future. I believe in free will and that things can shift. The power of a reading and healing with me is that it gives you a chance to see what you are working with right now in present time. It gives you an opportunity to look at next steps and clear out energetic blockages to those next steps. When you see something, you can move past it. Mediumship is another word that while I don’t necessarily avoid, I use slightly differently than others. Mediumship, traditionally about channeling those that have passed over, to me is a way to channel and tap into my spirit, my higher self. When we tune in to our spirits, our higher power, we are able to more easily be on our path and live our life. We are all connected and when each of us gets on our path, the path we got in this body to have, everyone wins.
What sets me apart from others is how I read. I read from neutrality. I have practiced and practiced reading and looking at energy from neutrality. I use Clairvoyance and Mediumship to connect with your energy to read you in present time and then look at your next steps. A reading and healing offer information to reflect on for weeks, months or even years. I love having clients email or message me saying that the reading they got months ago is all unfolding or the insight I gave them is all making sense.
I am most proud of the students I have taught that are using the ability to see the energy in their lives to create the lives they want. I love hearing from students who use meditation and clairvoyance to move through areas of life that previously would have been a huge source of stress. I love watching students take what they have learned and make it work for them. I appreciate the opportunities I have had to make a difference.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
When I was in 4th grade, I wanted to be just like Jane Pauley. I look back and realize that I didn’t actually want to be a Broadcast Journalist, rather, I wanted to have a voice and to be heard. There have been a line of women who have inspired me: teachers in grade school, college professors, my distant cousin who first told me I had the ability to see energy, my boss in my first job in HR, my first coaching client and now dearest friend who introduced me to Invision, and my Mom. Today, I am inspired by those that I have surrounded my life with – the women I train for marathons with, the women I gather with to discuss books and current events each month, the women with whom I serve on the PTO, the women who are following their dreams and forging paths in their own businesses, and the amazing clients I get to share space with during readings and healings. We are all such amazing beings in our right.
