Today we’d like to introduce you to Giancarlo Tiberi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Giancarlo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always loved Real Estate. I used to look through the globe and call the brokers to talk about their listings. My parents suggested that I get my real estate license. I decided to take the course during the summer. It took a month to complete and then I took the test. I was attending BU at the time but wanted to focus on a career in finance.
I graduated and began my career in residential lending. This experience ended up being invaluable as I learned a great deal about the financing aspect of real estate. I then worked as an Analyst at a REIT/Commercial bank. I was sizing multifamily loans between $5 – $50 million dollars.
At that time I felt that I wanted to be more on the sales side. So I took a leap of faith and began renting apartments. A lot of people told me I was crazy and assured me that renting apartments was not a “real job”. I shrugged it off and focused. I knew it was going to take some time to gain momentum. I eventually decided it was time to branch out and open Core Property Group. That was one of the best decisions of my life. I now own and operate two real estate offices, a development company and property management firm.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur definitely has its pros and cons. When you work for yourself there is a lot of stress and you have to wear a lot of hats. You just have to stay with it and focus. I stayed with it even when I didn’t make any money. I stayed with it when my friends were off and I was working every weekend.
I stayed with it even when I didn’t go on vacation. Good things take time and you need to trust the process. I always focused on my long-term goals and the big picture. Everything starts off small and a business takes time to grow. I focused on building my clientele on honesty, trust and integrity.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Core Property Group (CPG) is a full-service real estate brokerage. Sales, Rentals, Property Management, Investments and Development. We have a great team that is very knowledgeable. We also have a niche for investments both on and off-market. CPG works in most of the neighborhood in Boston proper.
I was very proud to be named one of “100 Most influential real estate agents in Massachusetts”. This was a fantastic accolade considering there are more than 60,000 active agents and brokers in Massachusetts. I am thankful for all of my clients and great business relationships that I have started with my company. I have personal relationships with most of my clients and I really think that is what sets CPG apart
What were you like growing up?
I spent a lot of my childhood in the north end. My father migrated to the north end from Abruzzo, Italy in the 1970’s. My grandparents came to America shortly after and resided in the north end. The north end is where everything started for my family.
My father came from Italy with nothing but a great work ethic and a desire to better himself. He didn’t know English and overcame tremendous cultural adversity. My parents instilled the values of hard work, focus and drive at a young age to my brother and I. My father would wake me up on Saturday mornings and have me sweep his hair salon.
At the end of the day, he would give me some money to have for the weekend. I realized at that point that everything in my life was going to be earned not given. I am so thankful that my parents instilled those values as it has been something I have kept with me.
Everyone needs a why and for me, that is my wife Carmela and my children Gianni and Alessia. I am raising them with the same values that were instilled in me.
