Meet Tatyanah Belin of QueenYanah in Brookline

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatyanah Belin.

Tatyanah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started a year ago. I was at that point in my life where I was getting tired of hair care products that we, those that struggle with taking care of our skin or hair. But we use products that never help out or only for a little bit. So one day, I bought an 8oz applicator bottle and made an oil for myself. Due to having hair loss on my right edge. I would apply the oil in my hair everyday and my hair grew stronger and healthier. Not only, did I use my own product. I’ve tried it on my son. And his hair grew strong and healthy. Fast forward into today, I was letting people know about my products by the word of mouth. Something I truly enjoyed and took a lot of patience to create. I started out with family, then friends and later on it just went from there.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m going to be honest it’s a very stressful road. Which entrepreneur or business has not been down this road in life? Personally, I truly find it a blessing because people definitely need organic, natural, vegan products in life. Because there is a lot people with sensitive skin. From alopecia, psoriasis, ance, eczema and much more. I have plenty of close friends to family with these conditions. And majority will spend money on products that’ll help them temporarily or not at all. But in my eyes, this is not a race nor is it about being huge. I know there are plenty of other people that are in the same field as myself but my products and style is completely different from theirs. In the end of everything I truly am greatful for all the positive feedback I’ve received from my clients.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the QueenYanah story. Tell us more about the business.
My name is Tatyanah, you may know me as Taty.  I make organic hair/skin care products. I started QueenYanah in July 2017. Yes, QueenYanah is still new but I’ve came to a conclusion that my products are for EVERYBODY. But my products target those that are natural or transitioning to become natural again. Also my products are made for those that are struggling with hair/skin care problems. Like myself, I tend to stress a lot and my hair at my edges thin. I decided to make these products because the amount of money we spend at hair stores to seeing doctors for treatments are ridiculous. Instead of realizing organic, homemade products does more than you would ever realize. And throughout this journey you will watch me demonstrate how to use my products. Along with a vlog of myself going through the transition of locs to Afro. And the process of my growth journey with my products. Yes! my products are FDA approved. But I am mindful of those with allergies and sensitive skin. Just remember when you have one of my products. It’s ” Sugar, Spice + Everything Nice! However, My website will be up and running hopefully by November 2018. I know I have said October 2018. But it is hard to create a website, lol.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Being a mother has been my luckiest role yet. To see, feel and come home to someone that loves you dearly, it’s completely the best feeling in the world. For the past three years, my life is and forever will be different. However, I don’t believe in bad luck, I’ve believe in KARMA. Like they say, “What goes around, comes around”. If it was not for my baby boy Tremaine, then I would not know where I will be in life. Having him made me strive hard for my dreams to become a reality. Thank You Baby!
