Meet Mark Widtfeldt of Easy Housekeeping Shops in Middlesex County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Widtfeldt.

Easy Housekeeping Shops was founded by Ed Parsons in the 1960’s. Prior to opening his first shop, Ed sold vacuums door-to-door. Since his father in-law had previously taught him to repair vacuum motors, he decided he wanted a way to help people maintain their existing machines instead of always having to buy something new. It was then that Woburn Vacuum was born. Ed worked side-by-side with his son Bob until Bob took over the business in the 1980’s. Bob changed the name to Easy Housekeeping Shops and built the business to 5 locations. After 2 downturns in the economy, the business was reduced to its 2 existing locations, Woburn and Chelmsford. Today, Ed’s son-in-law, Mark Widtfeldt runs the business with his brother-in-law Paul Lund. Mark and Paul have worked with Easy Housekeeping for over 40 years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The first major obstacle the business faced was Ed’s passing. After that there were to downturns in the economy. Now the major challenge is competing with the internet and the big box stores.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Easy Housekeeping Shops specialize in vacuum cleaner and sewing machine repairs, and vacuum cleaner sales. We are proud to serve our communities in this endeavor by providing the best products on the market while also providing the best possible service.

What were you like growing up?
I was one of those kids who had a knack for fixing almost anything because I had to know how it worked.
