Meet Trailblazer Roxanna Paiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanna Paiz.

Roxanna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing makeup when I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy almost 6 years ago. I was very depressed and didn’t know what to do with myself. I started looking on Instagram and saw a particular picture of a half skull makeup that I wanted to try. When I did it, it came out exactly the same and when I posted it I received so much good feedback from friends and especially family. As months passed by, I really got into it and as years passed by I got many clients and people who were interested on getting their makeup done by me, but I got into a job that needed a lot of my time and I slowed down a lot on creating looks and doing makeup overall. I had a baby and they didn’t care that I was a mother so I quit that’s when Makeup artistry became more serious. But then, I received an offer I couldn’t refuse and worked part time as a freelance makeup artist and full time as a tech engineer. I was there for almost 2 years and found out I was pregnant with my second child. After had my second child and fighting depression while I was on leave, I was let go from the job I depended on and became suicidally depressed. My fiancé told me to throw myself into makeup and to just let go and that’s exactly what I did. My following has been growing ever since. I feel as though me becoming a makeup artist saved my life. Although there’s time I want to just want to quit because of the amount of competing. I don’t because I realize after doing makeup for almost 6 years now and going through so much sadness and hardship makeup saved me. I want my children to fight for their talents and dreams just like how I did and to use every emotion in their mind body and soul to show how they feel. Now, I am a full time makeup artist and couldn’t be anymore happier making woman and men feel beautiful/handsome.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
What I went through in life wasn’t easy! But never knew what I wanted out of life. There were times I didn’t even want to live. But I pushed through. my artistry helped me fight through it. There were many nights I cried but the next day I was live on Instagram creating a look and having all my stress anger and anxiety expressed into my looks I made. My advice to women and men out their fight for your dreams. Don’t let that dark cloud take your shine. It will not come easy but I promise once you see the work you’ve done you will not believe you made that and you will have a story behind it. You will say, I fought that day look what I created I WON.
