Meet Chelsea Scott of Chelsea L. Scott Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Scott.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chelsea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography has always been a passion of mine.

Growing up, you could often find me “borrowing” my mother’s camera to take my own photographs. I had always preferred to be behind the camera, rather than in front of it, and that’s still true to this day. My interest in photography brought me through high school and straight into college.

I graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, MA in May of 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, having majored in Visual Communications with a concentration in Photography. After graduating, I worked for Gigi de Manio, of Genevieve de Manio Photography, in Carlisle, MA, as a Studio Assistant and Additional Photographer.

With Gigi, I learned so much of the ins and outs of running a successful business. She is incredibly talented and an even better mentor in the photography field. Today, I am currently running my own photography business on the North Shore of Massachusetts.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any road traveled is never perfectly smooth, but I believe that life will never give you more than you can handle. That much has been true for me and my journey. My biggest challenge to date had been finding my own aesthetic in my work.

There are so many talented artists in the world, each different from the next. How do you find your style and your own look? How do you separate yourself from the rest? Through exploration, I feel as though I have found my voice, speaking loudly through my work.

Please tell us about Chelsea L. Scott Photography.
Chelsea L. Scott Photography specializes in Wedding and Event Photography, Portraiture, and now entering in Real Estate. I work primarily in the Boston/New England areas, but also travel to Upstate New York quite frequently.

I grew up in the beautifully scenic Adirondack Mountains, so to travel there for work and for pleasure is always so wonderful. My favorite thing about what I do is the ability to capture memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Even on the longest work days, while I’m shooting for hours on end, I always walk away with such a rewarding and accomplished feeling.

The opportunity to share that feeling with my clients makes anything worthwhile. It has been a lot of fun to get to where I am and I’m excited to see what the future holds for my business and me.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Anyone who knows me knows that I love the show Friends. Though, my love for Friends isn’t just for the lovable characters and silly punchlines; it stems deeper.

As a young girl, each night that Friends aired, my father and I would dance to the opening theme song, “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts. Stepping on his feet, dancing around the television light, and clapping to the infamous beat with my father are some of my fondest memories.

To this day, my father supports me in anything and everything I do, especially my photography. My father is the most dedicated, hard-working, loving man that I know and I’m so lucky to have someone so special by my side.
