Today we’d like to introduce you to Flavio Debarros.
Flavio, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It started off as a hobby until some folks wanted to hire me to take photos. That lead to me enrolling in a photography program at Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts. Now almost ten years after I took my first manually exposed photo I’m doing what I love as a living.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My industry is brutal. There are thousands of photographers in my area fighting for the same jobs. It’s taken me a while but it seems like I’ve managed to show the masses why my photography is unique and a commodity. I’ve also come to realize that I’ll never be a perfect fit for every client nor do I want to be.
Please tell us about Flavio D Photography.
I specialize in Fine-Art Wedding Photography, which some of my peers steer away from. If I could shoot nothing but weddings id be in heaven. I also shoot dozens of events a year. I like to think my creative eye helps me create images that are a breath of fresh air in this often stagnant industry.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memories as a child all come from my awesome and huge family. They’ve been an important boost for my career.
