Today we’d like to introduce you to Taryn Dempsey.
Taryn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for the beauty industry started when I was very young. I was always the friend in high school to do all my friend’s makeup and hair for proms, homecomings, etc. I realized it was my calling when my mother was battling breast cancer and felt well enough to go on a dinner date with my father one evening. When I finished and she looked in the mirror, she radiated.
For me, seeing a smile on her face, and how much her whole energy changed made me realize how something so small can really make an impact on how a person feels. How you look has a direct correlation with how you feel.
Making people feel and look their best is so rewarding for me. After 13 years of being a licensed esthetician, and exploring all outlets of the trade, I decided to open my own business, Sirena Skin Studio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy. Building a clientele is very tough and takes a lot of time.
Having to work 2 and 3 jobs to be able to make a livable income while building would be exhausting and at times discouraging, but in the end, I am glad I never gave up.
Please tell us about Sirena Skin Studio.
I am certified in airbrush tanning, lash extensions, chemical peels, a wide variety of skin treatments, waxing, and event and bridal makeup. I am most proud of seeing my vision come to fruition after all the hard work throughout the years. I recently launched a CBD facial treatment after learning and studying the benefits the derivative CBD from the marijuana plant has on the skin. I wanted to do something different, cutting edge and holistic. More and more people are starting to discover CBD and it is part of my mission to spread my knowledge of its healing power and benefits.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I can’t really speak on what I would do differently. There isn’t much I would change about my journey in my career path. Everything I’ve encountered, been through, and learned, I’ve been able to take with me and its only helped me grow into the business owner that I am today.
