Meet Kristopher Carter of Isthiscarter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Carter.

Kristopher, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I was a kid I dreamt about being recognized for something bigger than myself. I promised myself at the age of 9 that I would be great at whatever I did. I was going back and forth with music but I always doubted myself. Then I became close friends with someone from Highschool. He introduced me to old films and classic movies from great directors like Stanley Kubrix and David Fincher. This is when I fell in love with photography.

Unfortunately, we fell apart and I was on my own for the next two years. I lost my close friend and I needed a way to let out my anger. With everything he taught me I borrowed my sister’s camera and learned how to take mediocre photos. I didn’t like the direction I was going because I was just copying famous Instagram photographers and local photographers.

I got tired of being the same and hitting the same spots so I decided to think outside the box and based my feed around movies and stories. No one seemed to be doing it and I was able to find my photographic art style. Now I’m collaborating with a lot of people creating different Instagram feed ideas and creating different ways to view a photo.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a real challenge for me. When I started off, I was only gaining 20-30 likes on my photos since that’s where I primarily focus my art. I felt like nobody would like my work since I was a nobody and never felt comfortable in any group. I also felt discouraged when I took photos and I look back and only like 3 or 4 since I’m such an indecisive person.

But I decided to message anyone and did a million free shoots. I didn’t have a job and still don’t but I always focused on creating and building with other creatives. I spend all of my time doing photography which some people might say is a bad thing, but I gained so much from it.

Now, I gain 200 likes and it’s been continuing to rise up! Due to all the people I’ve managed to meet just by messaging them on an app.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Isthiscarter – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m currently selling T-shirts from scratch! It’s a limited run so cop yours before they run out!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want to continue to grow! The plan is to spread my work to other outlets such as Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook. I have some goals in mind and plans to reach those. I’m always thinking about marketing and ways to execute those ideas.
