Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Huynh.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was still in high school when I first began. I started working at my uncle’s salon in Chicago doing basic manicures. I enjoyed doing nails so much I decided to pursue it full-time. After gaining much knowledge and experience working over 15 years in the nail industry for multiple different salon owners throughout Chicago, New York, and Boston, I decided to branch off and build a salon of my own.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were always bumps in the road, but I never gave up. When I first started, I was still in high school. My parents struggled financially to support the family. My father was sick and not capable of working, so my mother was always on her own. I stopped going to school to work and help out. It wasn’t something my parents approved of, but it’s what got us through those tough times. My intentions were to go back to school when things got better. But after working in the industry, I began to enjoy it so much that I wanted to pursue it further. Of course, I dreamed of opening my own salon, like any other person in the field would. But there was always a part of me where I was afraid. Afraid to fail and let me down. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I’d hear stories from other workers and owners how stressful and hard it would be. But with all the support and motivation from my clients, family, and friends, I was determined to make it happen. I’m glad I did. My advice to others would be to always think positive, surround yourself with forward-thinking people, stay motivated and never give up.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Waltham Nails & Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
At Waltham Nails & Spa, our customers are pampered with clean and efficient nail services. We truly care about their experience. We do our best to ensure every customer leaves satisfied with there nails. Although we accept walk-ins based on availability, we always recommend booking in advance. We respect our customers time and strive to be efficient. We do offer a variety of services but are most known for our SNS Dip Powder services. Majority of the customers come in asking for it because it’s a healthier alternative that lasts long. We enjoy doing the dipping powder because customers constantly return telling us how many compliments they receive, how much healthy their nails became and how much they love it.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I’ve always worked hard for everything I had. It’s made me appreciate everything I have more. I was brought up to always care and do good. Give everything my all. I am grateful.
