Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen McCormack and Colleen Scanlan.
Karen and Colleen began their careers in early 1990 at Pleasant Realty. Pleasant Realty was a local, family run business, Colleen, initially as an office manager, then Rental manager, and then Realtor. Karen began as a receptionist and quickly became a salesperson, then Realtor.
The native JPer’s went to grammar school together (as did their Dads!) When Pleasant Realty was bought by one of the conglomerates, they knew that independent business ownership was in their future. They grew up in Jamaica Plain and have put together a team that is Experienced (in real estate) knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Right after we began (July 2005) the real estate and mortgage industry completely shifted. We began our new independent adventure in one of our houses and then a friend on Washington Street let us rent space there for a couple of years. Gratefully in 2009 we moved into our own space in the vibrant South Street location. We renovated our space, took the security grates off the front and never looked back!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the McCormack & Scanlan Real Estate story. Tell us more about the business.
McCormack & Scanlan know that experience in Real Estate is paramount. Our Realtors have experience in the real estate industry of at least 5 years! If an agent is working with McCormack & Scanlan, they have been in the real estate profession for 5 years. We also have newer agents who work directly with an experienced Realtor.

Hmmm, based on our conversations with each other, everything that we have worked for is definitely due to a lot of hard work, but we often say we feel so lucky for everything we have worked so hard for and are so grateful!
