Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Fortin.
Jerry, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We had been visiting Narragansett for several years, we fell in Love with the area and the shops. As we began thinking of moving to Narragansett a retail space became available in the exact location we loved. With the stars and moon aligning we began our adventure. Passionate about recycle/upcycle, organic, natural, fair-trade and local artists, Simply Natural was born. It is now our sixth summer here. It warms our heart year after year as many visitors continue to return telling us they never miss a visit to our shop during their vacation.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Having spent most of our careers in insurance it was a bit of a challenge to move into the retail world. It was exciting, challenging and rewarding. The biggest concern was to be sure we carried items our local community would desire and support us during the off season. We are beyond grateful for the community support and thankful to be part of such a wonderful community.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Simply Natural – what should we know?
We are proud to support many local artisans, we specialize in natural, organic skin care soaps and lotions crafted locally, also upcycled and recycled giftware, we offer a Kids Korner with organic cotton baby clothing. As well as children’s books and toys. Also many fair trade offerings. We are most proud of being able to offer our customers a unique shopping experience with one of a kind gifts from our local artists to around the world.
