Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Dhimitri.
Nicholas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve have always been interested in animation. For most of High School I thought I wanted to be a writer for film or T.V, but I was drawing all the time and eventually I made the decision, that If I became an animator I could design and make my own films from the ground up. So I went to MassArt and graduated in 2018 with a BFA in animation. For my senior year I got to make my first fully produced film, Trifecta. And I’ve been doing design work as well as animation and illustration.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was a ton of growth and a lot of crossroads, the artist I was or thought I wanted to be is so far from the artist I became. Change is inevitable, but as a young artist you have to let it happen, don’t fight to keep yourself and what you create the same even though you see yourself headed in a different direction you are not comfortable with at the time, it’s difficult, but so important. To not hold yourself back. Things post-graduation have been going pretty well, my first freelance job was a disaster, but that’s okay! I learned a lot!
Please tell us about Nicholas Dhimitri.
I am a freelance artist. I specialize in animation, design and I do some illustration work as well. I am know for my simplistic and geometric sense of design, and for animation with life and energy infused into it. I am proud of all my characters, and my film, Trifecta. I feel like what sets me apart from other freelance artists is my personal style, and the way I make my characters move.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I don’t know if it’s my favorite but it always stuck with me. I was maybe 4 or 5 and I was playing on some of my mom’s workout equipment, just watching my parents watch T.V and clean up and do laundry. I don’t know it always stuck with me.
