Meet David Murray of David Murray Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Murray.

Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since my college days at St. Anselm in NH (French major), I have always had a camera in hand. My first professional job as a photographer found me working as a news photographer at the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. There I was part of a Pulitzer Prize Finalist team in photography. After 10 year there I became freelance, working for such publications as the New York Times and Washington Post. I started doing weddings in 2003 and have been working on being the best that I can be since then.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For a photographer, taking photos is like the icing on the cake. The struggles that one confronts while running a business are like the submerged portion of an iceberg. There is such a learning curve with regards all things marketing, financial that are a real challenge for me. There is constantly the need to improve and remain relevant. With all that, I still strive to be better at the craft while being honest about the images that I take.

Please tell us about David Murray Weddings.
Our company is owned by myself and my wife Linda. We are known for our attention to clients. As well, I am known for artfully looking for moments that will become the stories of family legacy. Recently, a client decided to hire me because she “could see in the images that I truly cared for my couple and those surrounding them.” My heart is at the center of all that I do for those who I have the pleasure of working with and for.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I always loved seeing my aunts, uncles, nana and cousins at family weddings (my dad had eight siblings so there were a lot of them!!!). It was always a lot of laughter and as many Coca-colas as I could get away with. Second to that was when I was 10 and my dad took me to Yankee Stadium where we watched the Sox beat the Bronx Bombers convincingly.
