Life and Work with Erica Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Palmer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Four years ago, after impulsively quitting my 9-5 job, I started my own marketing agency called Erio Marketing. The job I was working was my first out of college, and while it was an incredible learning experience and opportunity, I had been there for a little over three years and was looking for something more fulfilling. Since then, there have been many ebbs and flows, but Erio has grown to have 30+ clients and six part-time contractors. Our clients have a presence in over 10 different industries, and we work with them on a variety of marketing projects such as web design, SEO, email marketing, advertising, content, database management, and overall strategy.

Our most recent venture is Camp Erio | Summer Marketing Academy. Camp Erio is a free 3-day camp open to all middle school girls who are interested in learning about marketing and business. The camp will introduce them to various marketing concepts and aspects of business they may otherwise never have exposure to, with the hopes of inspiring them to continue down this career path.

Has it been a smooth road?
It certainly has not always been easy but it has been interesting and (mostly) really fun! The only way to get through it is to remain flexible and open-minded and roll with whatever comes your way. Things never turn out exactly how you imagined they would, and it can be very frustrating, but that’s okay. My advice would be to stop over-planning and analyzing your next move and to start taking steps to get started. Biting off more than you can chew can be scary and intimidating, but that’s the only way you’ll grow personally and professionally and learn the best lessons.

For young women just getting started, my advice is to surround yourself with other women who inspire you and will push you. Whether they’re former/current bosses, famous businesswoman, family members, or anyone in between, it’s always so helpful to have a strong network around you.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Camp Erio Marketing – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are so excited to launch our first ever Camp Erio | Summer Marketing Academy this summer. It is the first time a marketing academy like this is being offered in this area and it is incredibly exciting to see it come to fruition.

Over the course of 3 days, campers will be exposed to a variety of marketing topics such as advertising, branding, social media, public relations, and more. They will learn from guest speakers, participate in small discussion groups, connect with successful female marketers, and work to solve real-world problems. It will be a great learning experience for them not only from an academic standpoint but also for networking and building confidence.

Who have you been inspired by?
I am very lucky to be surrounded by lots of inspirational women – my mom, stepmom, sister, grandparents, aunts, and friends have all uniquely influenced me in ways that have positively impacted who I am. They are all very different people, have different careers and life goals, but are always kind, understanding, and supportive. I have also had some really awesome female bosses and co-workers that have shown me that you can be assertive and confident without having to worry about how you’re coming off and what others might think.

And then, of course, Michelle Obama, because, well duh. No explanation needed.
