Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Pantano.
Daniel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Daniel Pantano, and I am a freelance Illustrator and artist, currently residing in Quincy, MA. I received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where I furthered my skills and mediums as an artist.
I have been drawing for as long as I could hold a pencil. The worlds of comic books and cartoons have always infatuated me, and I wish to create many as my life moves forward. I’m currently illustrating and collaborating on an imaginative children’s book that will be out this year.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a recent college graduate, gaining industry exposure and connections have been the most challenging aspects. I’m actively pursuing illustration and related opportunities and always eager to learn from experienced artists in the field.
Regardless of your medium, finding creative ways to showcase and promote your art is critical, and it’s not always easy to find clientele who feel your style is a proper fit for their project. I’m fortunate to work alongside many other talented artists in my job as a Paint Instructor, where we encourage and help each other to pursue continuous improvement in our art.
Dan Pantano Illustrations – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a freelance artist, I’m a versatile Illustrator, skilled in concept art, character design, and storyboarding. I primarily work in a comic book style but can adjust as needed to what a specific project requires.
My strengths lie in my ability to bring dynamic and multi-dimensional characters to life in digital and traditional mediums. I take pride in my art and work quickly and efficiently to produce quality illustrations.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is often measured by wealth and job titles in today’s society. I believe those factors play a part but that what’s more important is being able to call something your own. Creating original work that you can label as your own is both a tremendous feeling and achievement because it lets you leave your mark on the world.
If you can make money from doing so, that’s great; but even if it’s just a passion project on the side, I feel that is a more important measure of success.
