Today we’d like to introduce you to David Chan.
David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started cooking professionally in Seattle after realizing how cooking food from scratch could have such a positive impact on a person’s mind, body, and spirit. I received formal training at the New England Culinary Institute, then cooked in various restaurants and kitchens throughout New England before starting my own business, Chef David NH. The mission of Chef David NH is to empower people to cook healthy and delicious food. When it was first established, I solely did private cooking classes in people’s homes. It has since expanded and provides 4 main culinary services: paleo meal delivery, catering, classes/workshops, and personal chef services.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the biggest challenges was transitioning from chef to business owner. It forced me to utilize a very different part of my brain and skill set.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Chef David NH story. Tell us more about the business.
Chef David NH provides 4 main services: paleo meal delivery, catering, classes, and personal chef services. I specialize in creating unique menus that can accommodate different food allergies/restrictions. I am becoming known for cooking food that is both healthy and delicious. I’m proud that as a new business, I have already gained loyal customers that trust me to provide them with their meals and catering needs. To ensure that my food will be nourishing, I find it very important to use quality ingredients, such as healthy oils and non-GMO foods.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am of the mindset that a person makes their own luck, both good and bad, so luck has not had much influence on me.
